Fertility Hypnosis
All hypnosis is self-hypnosis. This means that a hypnotherapist acts as your guide using hypnosis to achieve your goals, however you choose whether to accept their suggestions or not and no one can be hypnotized against their will or without their consent.
Because is works with the subconcious mind, hypnosis is a powerful tool for affecting quick and lasting change.
You will feel physically and mentally relaxed, but aware enough to hear your therapist conversing with you.
During hypnosis you are completely aware of yourself and your surroundings, but feel very relaxed.
The relationship between stress and infertility is complex, but is thought to be directly related to our biological evolution. The mind-body knows that in situations of extreme tension our sex organs are our most expendable parts and there for largely unnecessary. The mind-body knows that when times are tough, is not the time to make a baby but to simply survive.
Hypnosis can change this as physiologically it is known to decrease blood pressure, lower heart rate, and to decrease the production of stress hormones. The reduction in stress alone assists IVF, but your sessions will also guide you to release fears about conception, birth or parenting that may also be hindering a successful IVF implantation.
By having your mind and body in harmony and working together, you will obtain the best chance of success with your IVF treatments.
Sessions are conducted based on your personal situation and preferences.
The deep change bought about by hypnotic work can take time to process, hence there are no recommendations on session spacing.
I allow you as the client to decide how often or frequently you would like to return for sessions (be that weekly, monthly or longer).
Current fees for Fertility Hypnosis sessions can be found on the Fertility Consultations page
We never say never when it comes to hypnosis.
If you are willing to be open minded enough to consider hypnosis, I am very happy to work with you.

Using Hypnosis we can stimulate or adjust the pituitary gland which regulates female reproductive hormones such as FSH (follicle stimulating hormone which matures the eggs in the ovaries), estrogen, progesterone, so you have the appropriate level of certain hormones within your body for conception.
The Mind-Body link that is utilised in hypnosis has almost endless capabilities.
Yes – Hypnosis is a complementary therapy.
When conducted in conjunction with other mind-body modalities such as Acupuncture, Osteopathy, Chiropractic, Reflexology etc results are just as affective and can even compound.
Hypnosis sessions can be done to complement any other treatments you may be receiving.
HypnoBirthing Childbirth Classes
When women understand that pain is caused by constrictor hormones, created by fear, they learn, instead, to release fear thus creating endorphins—the feel good hormones. They are then able to change their expectations of long, painful labor and are able to replace them with expectations of a more comfortable birthing.
Rather than exhausting, shallow breathing and using distraction techniques, HypnoBirthing parents learn deep abdominal breathing and total relaxation, enabling the laboring mother to work in harmony with her body and her baby. This allows her to achieve a shorter, more comfortable labor for herself and baby.
Anytime from 20 weeks on is ideal to attend classes, as this will ensure you have plenty of time to practice and benefit from the self-hypnosis and relaxation techniques that you will learn.
If you are further along in your pregnancy than 30 weeks, a weekend intensive (when available) or private session may be good to consider.
The Birth Companion of the mother’s choice is an integral part of the HypnoBirthing experience.
Typically the baby’s dad (but not always), the birth companion practices with the mother to reach states of deep relaxation.
During labor the Birth Companion guides the laboring mother through hypnosis prompts, relaxation techniques, deepening methods and visualizations, these help to provide comfort measures for mum.
The Birth Companion also joins in welcoming the new baby as he emerges into the world, and in the early bonding period.
Despite misconceptions about Hypnosis and what it feels like, you are fully conscious and aware during the birth. Whle a HypnoBirthing mother is deeply relaxed shre is also an active participant in the labor process, talking and moving as she feels to do..
HypnoBirthing does not promise painless birthing, though many HypnoBirthing mothers do report having a relatively pain-free birth or one that they were able to manage easily.
When the causes of fear which constrict the birthing muscles is not present, birthing can be accomplished in a shorter period and much more comfortably. A relaxed mother’s body will produce more endorphins, nature’s own relaxants, negating the need for other drugs.
HypnoBirthing mothers may still experience sensations of tightening or pressure; but most describe their birth experience as working with their body through the sensations, and thus avoiding the excruciating pain that is frequently spoken of by women who choose other methods of preparation for birthing.
More and more care providers are becoming aware of the benefits of HypnoBirthing.
HypnoBirthing promotes open communication with your care givers. If your care giver is not knowledgeable about HypnoBirthing, take the opportunity early in your pregnancy to discuss the techniques you will be using and the type of calm birthing environment that you desire.
In class you will learn how to create a plan for your Birth Preferences, which will help you to communicate your birthing goals and preferences to your doctor/midwife.
Your HypnoBirthing instructor can also contact your provider with information on HypnoBirthing if you desire.
Absolutely. The things you will learn in your HypnoBirthing classes will help you to learn relaxation skills that will be useful to both you and your baby, regardless of your birth experience. The techniques learnt also help with relaxation during pregnancy, when breastfeeding, and as new parents.
In the event that medical intervention of any sort is needed, you will find yourself better able to remain calm and in control with HypnoBirthing.
Mothers who have needed scheduled cesareans for medical reasons report that they were totally relaxed before, during and after the procedure. Many report that they needed little or no medication following the birth, and they were able to return to normal functioning in a very short period of time. You can read more about using HypnoBirthing for a planned c-section here.
Yes, mums who must have C-sections have used the HypnoBirthing® techniques throughout their pregnancies and found HypnoBirthing® helps in several different ways:
Prenatal Bonding – HypnoBirthing® encourages you to connect with your unborn child. HypnoBirthing® embraces the idea of prenatal bonding and this is helpful to ALL mothers.
Breathing Techniques – Why would I need to learn breathing techniques if having a C-section? The point of the breathing techniques is to help slow the body down. Nerves and stress can impact the mother’s ability to take anesthesia and impact her surgery, but can also impact her health and state of calm during the pregnancy.
Using the breathing techniques can help facilitate the body’s acceptance of anesthesia easily, allowing mum to relax and use self hypnosis effectively. Breathing deeply can also be a quick way to calm oneself to be consciously present in the moment without stress; this is an effective tool for parenting, breastfeeding, and life.
Rainbow Relaxation –The Rainbow Relaxation CD used in the HypnoBirthing Program was created with the primary purpose of helping mums to relax and use her bodies natural expulsive reflex to birth. However, there are so many more ways in which the Rainbow CD is helpful:
- It can be used for prenatal bonding, getting better in tune with your body, and just relaxing.
- Helps you create a calm, positive pregnancy, in anticipation of you baby’s arrival
- If you are relaxed before, during, and after surgery your recovery will be easier, quicker, and hopefully filled with less pain or no pain at all. Donald Curtis said “Relaxation means releasing all concern and tension and letting the natural order of life flow through one’s being”.
- The relaxation that this program helps foster is a deep feeling of relaxation which is critical post birth for being an effective parent and with breastfeeding.
Birth Preferences – You might think, “I am having a Cesarean Section so I have no Birth Preferences, right?” That is not true at all.
In HypnoBirthing® we go over all of the various areas that a vaginal birth preference incorporates. Many of these same principles can be used for a C-section birth (Pre-Admission, Admission, Prior to Surgery, Surgery, Recovery, and Baby Options).
If you must have a C-section, we encourage you to research your options for anesthesia, surgery, and recovery. There is even a family friendly gentle C-section procedure that was developed in England for OB’s to use that mimics some of the sensations of a vaginal birth for the baby. We can provide you with that information to present to your doctor. Most of all we encourage open communication between you and your care providers in advance. That includes your entire health team to include OB/GYN, Labor and Birthing Nurses, Anesthesiologist, and post care nurses.
Fear Release – In HypnoBirthing® we incorporate numerous fear release sessions to help parents leave their fears behind and feel empowered going into their births. Just because you are having a C-section does not mean you cannot be empowered.
Having a baby can cause parents to have some serious fears. If you couple those fears with that of the major surgery of a C-section you can end up with parents who are stressed, worried, and not relaxed to welcome their baby into the world.
Doing the HypnoBirthing® fear releases helps open communication up between couples, allow them an opportunity to resolve concerns, and participate in an exercise that helps them to release their fears. Through releasing these fears we are able to have parents who are calm and confident. This is a solid base to begin their adventure into parenting.
Education – Through taking the HypnoBirthing® class parents are encouraged to investigate their choices in birthing. They are taught how to ask questions of the birthing team in a respectful manner while being clear that the birthing energy is their own. They are good parents before being “good patients”.
Learning as much as possible is important, especially when presented with a special circumstance or a surgical birth. Parents are exposed to options to help empower and educate them on alternative holistic approaches which can be beneficial.
Hypnotherapy can also have a huge impact in helping a mother through a C-section and during the recovery period. Parents who use hypnotherapy for pre and post-surgery preparation find their anxiety is reduced. They are calm and confident which promotes healing and a speedy recovery.
- Hypnosis will help to reduce pain and discomfort after surgery.
- It will help reduce bleeding during and after surgery which is helpful for mothers recovering from birth.
- Many mums report that it reduces the need for post operative drugs so they can breastfeed without the worry of drugs passing through to the baby.
- From a recovery perspective, some mums walk after their C-sections between 3 and 5 hours after surgery.
You don’t have to “go it alone” if you are facing a necessary C-section. HypnoBirthing® techniques will assist you in many ways to ensure your baby’s journey into this world is as smooth as possible.
Yes, HypnoBirthing® works well for women who have given birth before.
Through the self-hypnosis you will learn, HypnoBirthing® will help you release and resolve any fears, anxieties, and negative thoughts based on your previous experience. This in turn will assist you to relax deeply – a skill you probably didn’t have when giving birth before.
Your Practitioner can also provide private support for you, should that be required.
With your new HypnoBirthing® skills your future birth experiences will be profoundly different from past ones.
Sure its cheaper to do that and you can read the book, but as many mums who have attended our courses after reading the book have found, there are many addionatl things to learn and experience by taking a course.
The personal education and interaction you receive, the opportunity to hear recent Brisbane birth stories, and learning first hand from a mum who successfully used HypnoBirthing to achieve a totally drug free birth with a long labour are all key benefits that ensure the course is well worth your time.
